Our Society
Speeding up, anxiety, lack of happiness and fading authenticity; all these were major trends over controlled our society. Most worked sincerely longer and harder but earned less. Few reached what they wanted but materialism lost its appeal. Happiness became very relative and sometimes unreachable. Therefore, people escaped to fetch for it within the allowed fields which was extremely odd fashion, rituals, music, arts, cultures or even sports. Even choices of interest were according to the crowd, leading increasingly fake lives. Allow me to call this era; the “Irreplaceable coated Gum” era. The sugar never lasts and leaves you striving for more. Irreplaceable because all you can find in the surrounding market is less satisfying than the one you’re holding on to.
Today’s trend is political related; all directions of goals or visions rely on making things the way it was supposed to be. Challenges are higher; individuals are forced to be different and real in order to stand out. We are suffering from Too much information, Too much Choice and Too much Technology. Unfortunately, we are subjected to multiple truths (One minute tea is going to kill you, the next it’s a remarkable cure). Media feeds us endlessly with half-truth and lies of politicians who want to sell us something. Influencing people choice through their fear and yearning for authenticity. This leads us to a tricky question; is this choice coming from my head or another sound within?!
Not all of us are free in our choices. Half of us are very simple all they wish for is survival that’s why they find their security within the strongest crowd. The other half; some can think for themselves and lead but they choose not to. Some choose to learn and struggle till they float and reach the shore.
What this society really need is not just a revolution for freedom, humanity and justice but a revolution of ethics and civility beginning with us before applying it on different institutions. It’s a good thing to stray from a sidewalk but if we never knew when to stop we can get hit by a car. Speak less, do more and be the master of your fate.
